Terwilliger Plaza is a representative self-governed, nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Our policies and culture are driven by the very people who live here. This Member-driven approach ensures our values align with the needs and desires of our community.
Third-Party Certification
Our dedication to serving a diverse population is perhaps best exemplified by our SAGECare Platinum Credential. We're proud to be the only CCRC in Oregon to receive this recognition. SAGECare is a division of SAGE (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders), the nation's oldest and largest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults. With over 7 million LGBTQ+ people projected to be 65 or older in the coming decade, we recognize the vital need for safe, welcoming spaces. SAGECare certified communities undergo specialized cultural competency training, symbolizing our ongoing pledge to support a community that celebrates inclusivity, diversity, and advocacy for the well-being of all our Members.
Furthermore, our commitment to excellence is backed by our CARF-CCAC accreditation. Less than 10% of CCRCs nationwide achieve this status, and we're one of only two in Oregon. This requires meeting over 1,200 measurements of excellence, including governance and finance. It demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the quality of life and ensuring respect for every Member.
