Each week, we welcome a guest speaker to share insights and spark thought-provoking discussions on topics of wide interest to Terwilliger Plaza Members—ranging from government and non-profits to science, the arts, and beyond.

At this week’s Saturday Forum, we will host Judith Barrington is an award-winning memoirist and poet. Her new book: Virginia’s Apple, is a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. (Or…if it wins….a winner of the Oregon Book Award.)

Judith Barrington is an award-winning memoirist and poet. Her new book: Virginia’s Apple, is a finalist for the Oregon Book Award.

Her previous memoir, Lifesaving, won the Lambda Literary Award and was a finalist for the PEN/Martha Albrand Award for the Art of the Memoir. Her best-selling text, Writing the Memoir: From Truth to Art is used across the United States, in Australia and in Europe. She has also published five collections of poetry and two poetry chapbooks. Many of her individual poems have won prizes including the Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize.

Judith grew up in England and moved to the United States in 1976. She has lived in Portland, Oregon since then.
