Peter Pappas

Peter Pappas is a native of Rochester, New York, where he began a career in education spanning more than fifty years - including twenty-five years as a high school social studies teacher and five years as an Assistant Superintendent of Schools. A longtime advocate for student-centered learning, Peter has worked with school districts across the country and published widely on inquiry-based teaching. He continues to teach as an adjunct at the University of Portland and designs online content for the Library of Congress.

After relocating to Portland in 2005, Peter put down roots in his adopted city, serving on the board of Downtown Portland Clean and Safe and as chair of his Pearl District HOA.

At Terwilliger Plaza, Peter chairs the Employee Appreciation Fund, coordinating the community's annual year-end gift to the staff who make this community thrive.
